"Exceptional conditions prevail in Finland"

- Exceptional conditions now prevail in Finland. This was stated by the Finnish Government during a press conference recently. Schools in the state are closed from Wednesday, they announced.

All schools and universities are closed, but childcare continues. It also introduces a ban on meetings for more than ten people.

Freedom of movement for Finns can be restricted and borders can be closed quickly. All traffic to Finland is interrupted except for Finns coming home. Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) urges those who are abroad to return home. For them, a two-week quarantine applies. She also says that freight traffic continues as normal.

"We are doing this to protect those in the risk groups," said Prime Minister Sanna Marin.

The government should also take financial measures to support the business community.

The Government of Åland is holding a press conference on Åland measures at 6pm. The press conference is broadcast live on Ålands Radio, the Åland Channel and here on our website.

In Finland, there are now more than 270 known cases of coronavirus, but now everyone is no longer testing for symptoms. There are no confirmed cases in Åland.
