The Government of Åland ready to take care of transport to the west

Unless the issue of transports to the west can be resolved before next week, the Government must ensure that the transports are in place.

This is what Veronica Thörnroos, Head of Government of Åland Islands, said at today's press conference.

- It is not essential for the oil to come here, but it is vital that the business sector continues to function and can export and import what they produce and need. We need to create good conditions for the operations that work well, because it will benefit the whole of Åland.

Thörnroos says they have made progress on the issue, although no solution has yet been reached.

- No effort has been saved at any level to bring about a solution, and I had hoped that we would make a positive decision that we could present today, but apparently not. We are still waiting for tomorrow, says Thörnroos.
